WIS: 9 Dante’s always a little late to the plot, especially in DMC5.INT: 10 Not the brightest banana in the bunch, but not too dumb.Because if you can’t laugh in the face of imminent exsanguination, why play D&D? CON: 15 Dante needs some points in CON to get the feeling of reckless invincibility that comes from living through a dozen stab wounds. This is just enough to make our upcoming Medium armor proficiency useful. DEX: 14 We’re gonna be relying on agility to boost our evasiveness, but we want to overwhelm with offense.STR: 9(+1) Dante doesn’t need a ton of Strength, he’s got the power of God and anime on his side.

Take a look at what this gets our favorite demon-blooded dork:

DEVIL MAY CRY 5 DANTE DEVIL TRIGGER FREE
Just like with all of our builds, we’ll be going point buy for Adventure League standards, but feel free to elevate from the norm. It all adds up for a perfect racial choice for the legendary demon slayer!Īlright, slap 27 points into that point buy pool, ’cause we’re gonna need all of ’em for this build. You get a boost in power, dealing extra necrotic damage, and enemies are afraid of your terrifying transformation as demonic wings sprout from your back. But when you pop Necrotic Shroud, it’s an awesome way to represent Dante’s Devil Trigger. The healing pool at-will makes for a nice way to handwave Dante’s healing factor. See, the +2 Charisma boost and the +1 Strength boost are okay, great even. Mechanically, Fallen Aasimar does some wonderful things to increase the flavor of this build, including fixing a problem that I was grappling with right up until I started this post. In the Bible, demons and devils are angels that fell from heaven in the Rebellion, otherwise known as the Fall of Satan. Dante doesn’t look like a stereotypical tiefling, but he does look sorta like an Aasimar. That’s why we’re going with -Fallen- Aasimar. “But Bobby, Dante’s not an angel!” Yeah, no kidding, genius. Obviously, Dante’s gotta be a tiefling, right? WRONG! Welcome to the remix! I rubbed the few remaining braincells I have left together, and decided that for the best Dante I can blend, the answer has to be the Falllen Aasimar variant. Let’s look at the updated build with fresh eyes, and see what makes Dante so devlishly cool.ĭante is a half devil, half human. Dante in his own games is immensely powerful, capable of feats of power and speed that would make Elminster raise an eyebrow. Sometimes, I express a level I think is canonical for a character. Even angelic “would-be saviors” with deceitful intentions won’t escape the son of Sparda.Īs with all of our builds, we’ll be building Dante up to level 20. Uhh, he’s still super cool, I swear!ĭeclining to pursue a path of demonic superiority over humans, Dante instead dedicated himself to stopping the incursions of devils and evil entities into the material plane. This guy oozes cool! Even when he’s prancing around like Michael Jackson. If you’re all set, let’s get this party started!īorn of a human mother and incredibly powerful demon lord father, Dante is one of the most distinct gaming icons of the last decade. Spoilers for DMC5 will be in effect, so go play that and have a great time before you come back. Some bits will be the same, but some will be a new direction for how he’ll play at the gaming table.
DEVIL MAY CRY 5 DANTE DEVIL TRIGGER UPDATE
With the release of Devil May Cry 5, everyone’s favorite half hellspawn has sprung back into the spotlight, and I’ve decided to update the build that I did last year on the blog to better represent where Dante is today.
